A Tudor Christmas

Piva 2017 Square

A touch of sixteenth century life will be visiting Gretton Village Hall in December when renowned early music group Piva will be staging an evening of seasonal music and stories from days gone by. This entertaining show celebrates the yuletide season in true Elizabethan style as they wash away all the Victorian influences to take you back to the Tudor origins of our Christmas customs and carols.  Playing on a wide range of authentic period instruments such as hurdy-gurdy, bagpipes, shawms and recorders, Piva also tell tales and stories from Christmases past. The perfect show for all the family and guaranteed to get you in the Christmas spirit!

Founded in 2002, Piva have firmly established themselves as one of this country’s leading early music ensembles. The group members are all multi-instrumentalists with backgrounds in renaissance, jazz, classical, folk and roots music; Piva melds all their influences together to create music of the past played for today. Playing throughout the UK and Europe, they have gained a reputation for their lively performances and entertaining shows.  For this Christmas show, we are really pleased to be joined by cornet
