Birmingham Repertory Theatre presents...

Have Box Will Travel

It’s hard to be king of the turntables when you live in South London and your African mother doesn’t know her Hip from her Hop.

Transporting you from humble beginnings in a bedroom in South London to spinning records in some of the biggest clubs in the world Have Box Will Travel tells the semi autobiographical story of a boy growing up in pursuit of a dream.

A mesmerizing, funny and moving show ‘Have Box Will Travel’ fuses together DJing, storytelling and spoken word to create a classic rites of passage story for music lovers, dancers and anyone who has ever had dreams of making it big.

Globally acclaimed for his electrifying performances and entertaining writing, Charlie Dark is a veteran of the UK poetry and performance scene he’s equally at home behind the turntables as he is on a stage.

Co commissioned by The Lyric Hammersmith and Punch with support from Manchester Contact in association with Breaking Cycles

Suitable For: Adults and older children
