How does it work?
Twice a year a ‘menu’ of events is put together by the scheme manager. There is a mixture of theatre, music, comedy, children’s theatre and dance performances and sometimes workshops to choose from.
All are by professional companies who have been vetted and usually seen by the scheme manager. The majority of shows are designed specifically for rural touring so the companies are self sufficient and know what to expect when they turn up at a village hall.
You then have around 6-8 weeks to decide which show(s) you would like to book. It can take a bit of juggling to find a date when your venue and the company is free and to accommodate the most promoters but you will always be given your first choice whenever possible.
The amount of shows you can book will depend on the district / borough you live in, the amount of funding allocated for that area and the level of demand. It’s always worth asking for a second show.![]()
