Text Only Version

To view the site in text only, use the ‘Text Only’ link at the top of every page.

Our web site uses Betsie (http://betsie.sourceforge.net) to provide a text only version of our web pages. Betsie converts a web page to text-only, which can help users with screen readers or text browsers. It also allows you to customise the appearance of the page, which can be helpful for users with dyslexia or visual impairments.

Betsie stands for BBC Education Text to Speech Internet Enhancer, and is a simple script which is intended to alleviate some of the problems experienced by people using text to speech systems for web browsing. Betsie is currently used on the BBC website and on many other sites around the world.
