About Us

Vision

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to access the arts within their community so that the arts can become an everyday part of peoples’ lives.

Mission

Northants Touring Arts is the rural and community touring scheme for Northamptonshire that exists to provide communities with access to professional arts events. We enable and equip volunteer promoters to host performances and workshops on their doorstep.

Aims

  • To provide promoters with a wide choice of inspiring work by quality professional performers from the county and beyond.
  • To offer a mixture of artistically and culturally diverse work in the menu and programme.
  • To encourage the use of non-traditional theatre spaces for live performances.
  • To support County, regional and national Artists by making their work available and known to new audiences.
  • To retain the current network of promoters and encourage new promoters to join the scheme.
  • To offer training and networking opportunities for promoters.
  • To provide a platform for new work and emerging companies in the County.
  • To foster new partnerships with other arts organisations based in the County.

Funders

Northants Touring Arts is a not for profit organisation supporting around 60 performances across Northamptonshire each year through the funding it receives from the Arts Council, England, Northamptonshire Country Council, Corby Borough Council, Daventry District Council, East Northamptonshire Council, Kettering Borough Council, Northampton Borough Council, South Northamptonshire Council and the Borough Council of Wellingborough.

Northants Touring Arts was established in 2002 to build on the success of the work in the County and increase the variety of shows and events on offer to rural and community venues in Northamptonshire. In 2006 the scheme became a Regularly Funded Organisation by the Arts Council, East Midlands.

Northants Touring Arts is a member of the National Rural Touring Forum (NRTF) the umbrella organisation for around 40 similar schemes across the country.
